Introducing the New Norwegian Bliss
Recently I had the pleasure to experience the brand new Norwegian Bliss on its Inaugural sailing out of Miami. The first thing I noticed is the larger than life marine mural by Wyland on the ship’s hull and all the balcony rooms! You are assured brilliant views whether from your stateroom balcony or from the panoramic Observation Lounge located at the front of the ship two decks high. If you would like the ultimate get-away to have time to relax by yourself, The Bliss has Studio staterooms specifically for the solo traveler. Because these rooms are smaller, guests have access to the Studio Lounge for snacks, television, games and meeting other single travelers.
The food is above expectation and the Seafood Extravaganza lunch served at the Garden Café buffet featured more fresh seafood than I can ever list. The grilled lobster and king crab legs were Heaven and completely unexpected on the buffet. The Garden Café meals are included with your cruise price when many seafood meals of this caliber are served only in specialty dining with an added cost.
Nightly entertainment featured the Broadway Musical Jersey Boys. I had seen this years ago at TUTS but forgot how much I enjoyed it. Havana is a hot and lively step into the golden age of Cuba choreographed by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle and with songs by two-time Grammy Award Winner Albita. Next check out the Cavern Club featuring Beatlemania Live! Sgt. Peppers, the Caliente for Latin dance or The Social for stand-up comedy. There is no lack of entertainment.
Seeking some thrills? Head to Deck 19 to test your driving skills on the two-level electric competitive go kart track and is the largest at sea. Then get lost in the Laser Tag maze or brave the transparent slides that go over the sea.
But you will find me at the Mandera Spa which features a selection of more than 50 treatments with saunas, whirlpool, heated lounge chairs, and a salt room. The Snow Room is the perfect place to chill out after a day at the pool or a vigorous workout or because it just feels so good in there.
This magnificent ship has already made history as the biggest ship to transit through the Panama Canal on its way to Alaska. The Bliss will take you on Alaska sailings starting this summer and return to the Eastern Caribbean out of Miami for winter. You can also always catch the transition sailings through the Panama Canal in spring and autumn.
